ABOUT THE WINERY:
Located in the village of Bernkastel in the Mosel region and run by Maximilian Ferger, the winery is
one of the highest esteemed wine producers in Germany. With the Wegeler estate, it holds the biggest share of the famous “Doctor” vineyard, one of, if not the best vineyards in Germany.
With their unique style of producing wine, utilizing gentle pressing, free flow and malolactic fermentation, they produce big and dense Rieslings that can age for decades, making them ideal for underwater aging.
Serving Temperature: Serve Bernkasteler Lay Dr. Hugo Thanisch chilled, ideally around 45–50°F (7–10°C), to preserve its vibrant acidity and refreshing fruit flavors.
